Another view. I've hard-wired the cable through the brass bass plate.
This was mainly to save money as the
required 7-pin XLR plug and socket are quite expensive. Not an ideal
solution but should be OK for light-to
-medium duty studio work
The logo is a Z for 'zebra50', in a diamond. Which looks pretty much
like the neumann logo rotated 90 degrees. I did this by etching
through a thin piece of copper (after drawing the logo freehand with
a sharpie pen), and then soldering with a blowtorch, just with
normal electrical solder. This was a lot harder than I'd expected becuase
of the thermal mass of the brass, but looks pretty cool, I think.

Completed mic, except for the capsule. Time for a glass of red.
